For the final project, I would like to mimic the work of the photographer Moholy Nagy. His photographs are both captured images and designed images. He isolates photographs he has taken of people and forces them into a different enviornment in which he has created, a world of shapes and lines.
I want to recreate this, however, I would like to steer away from using photographs. Instead, I would like to draw the main subject of the composition. I will then add shapes and lines to the composition, creating a somewhat DaDa undertone to the image. The image will be colored with muted shades, keeping the focus on the subject and the shapes rather than the colors. There will be no text in the image.

final- proposal

for my final i want to mimic Moholy Nagy's photographs. my images will contain a specific subject partnered with geometric shapes and simple lines. I will scan in 3d objects of dolls (super heros) and create the lines and shapes on the computer. I will then create negatives with the images and print the final image in the dark room. if it is necessary for me to detach the final product one step further away from the computer.. i will create t-shirt designs with the final images... printing it on iron on fabric.

cut out concept
For my "book" i would like to center it around the theme of relationships. The images would be a portrait of a girl and a boy, interacting with each other in a boyfriend/girlfriend manner. Each image will have a circular shape cut out of it in various locations, depending on the image.
Concept: To portray a time line of relationships, of one specific person (a girl), and the things that she misses about that person. The part that would be cut out would be the part that she misses. It will represent a certain physical feature, an emotion or pattern, or a specific memory. On the facing page will be one sentence stating what she misses, whether it be through a direct quote or just a simple statement.

concept
i want associate the artist and the "live" aspect of entertainment. I also want to try and layer just images of the artist using either the artist name or the album name.
i also want to possibly do some of my own twist on 5 of them, revisiting the idea of the "spring break" images i had from the heaven and hell assignment.

concept
I want to do an advertisement for OKAYPLAYER.com. it is a non-profit organization that provides news, updates, and blogs about current music with an emphasis on hiphop and neosoul and a highlight on fashion. The ad would be centered around introducing a new artist that has the same vibes and appearance as the majority of hiphop artists, as well as introducing certain fashion trends. The image will more than likely be black and white and it will feature on individual (a solo artist) as well as their name. It will be very clean and organized, as are all the other images on the website.

This advertisement is misleading. It makes skateboarding, or actually a skateboard (an object), your ticket to greatness. With this one activity and object you could do anything you want. VICE MAGAZINE

This advertisement seems fun and positive. Sparks is clearly advertised as alcohol as well as a drink that can make your life fun and exciting by listing all of the activities that you and your friends can do while enjoying this beverage. There is activity in the image behind it as well as the same energy. VICE MAGAZINE

This advertisement is misleading. I think the image is about a beverage, however there is so much going on in the image that i am unaware of what is being advertised. There is no branding on any of the product(s) to allow me what the focal point is. This forces me to take the extra effort to look up the product, although the general public wont go the extra mile. VICE MAGAZINE

Although this image is hilarious, it makes no sense, and i am somewhat skewed as to what the product is that is being advertised. Even if you lose your clothes, youll still be cool because you have your sunglasses on. Also, the product, the glasses, arent shown very well, they blend in with the background. VICE MAGAZINE

This advertisement is for a tshirt company. It implies that these tshirts are so cool, that even jesus would wear them. They completely advertise their name and product properly and clearly as well as the message they were trying to send. A positive emotion is emitted from this advertisement.

According to this image, American Apparel clothing is orgasmic. Its so good it makes you just want to rip your clothes right off in the middle of New York City on the steps of a dirty street.
